EIGHT GENERATIONS OF WINEMAKERS
Established in the heart of the Marne Valley, and benefiting from a wealth of ancestral expertise, the Maison “A.D.Coutelas” champagnes are an ambassador for authenticity and tradition. Angélique and Damien, whom we personally met when visiting the vineyard and tasting their products, represent the eighth generation to lead this beautiful family Champagne house, founded in 1809 by Louis Victor Coutelas.
CERTIFIED HIGH ENVIRONMENTAL VALUE
The vines, aged between 30 and 60 years, are planted with Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Chardonnay on a total of 7 hectares. They are spread across the three main areas of the Champagne appellation: the Marne Valley, the Montagne de Reims, and the Côte des Blancs. All the energy is concentrated on soil work, with extremely meticulous vineyard work, allowing for an optimal harvest in terms of both quality and balance. This approach is both respectful of traditions, using old methods, and innovative and visionary. The vines are cultivated according to the principles of organic farming with HVE (High Environmental Value) certification since the beginning of 2020.
SEVEN "HAUTE COUTURE" CUVÉES
Wines are partially aged in oak barrels before the second fermentation in the bottle, known as malolactic fermentation. Some of these wines do not undergo fermentation to preserve freshness and character. A long bottle aging, at least four years and up to nine years, is the hallmark of Champagnes with a true identity.
Working diligently on their own land, Damien and Angélique Coutelas also select from the best Champagne terroirs to create elegant and expressive Champagnes. Among these seven high-quality cuvées is a rare Champagne, the Louis Victor cuvée.
CUVÉE LOUIS VICTOR
This cuvée, named in homage to the Maison's ancestor, is crafted using the Solera method. It’s a blend of nine different vintages, from 2007 to 2016! Each year, a new vintage is added, bringing complexity, fruitiness, and freshness to this remarkable Champagne.
Louis Victor cuvée has being recognized by top chefs, especially from Champagne region. Despite the numerous competitors in the region, the Champagne is present on many fine local tables - a testament to its high gastronomic quality.
