Eric Martin took over the La Magnanerie estate in Ardèche (France) from his soon-to-retire father in 2008. He is now the fourth generation olive oil producer in his family. Under Eric’s tenure, the domain switched its farming and production methods to be fully organic and specialized in green fruitiness extra virgin oils of the highest quality.
The La Magnanerie set includes three of Eric Martin’s main “cuvées”
-
Cuvée Cosmos: In terms of rarity, Cosmos is The Romanée Conti of olive oils. The name pays homage to the harmony between humans and nature, and our intrinsic connection to the Cosmos. The field where the Leccio del Corno olive trees are situated, is harvested without tractor, only worked on by humans and horses to ensure an absolutely pure environment. A very complex fruitiness, with delicate notes of wild aromatic herbs, green almond, avocado and even kiwi notes. A very harmonious and long finish of bitterness and pungency.
Cultivar: Leccio del Corno
Harvest : October 2020
-
Cuvée Sauvage: Refinement with a wild spicy side strongly rooted in the flavours and colours of Provence. Medium green fruitiness, with heady notes of fresh radish, thyme, rosemary and a long note of citrus at the back, after pronounced bitterness and long pungency.
Cultivars: Bouteillan, Aglandau, Picholine
Harvest : October 2021
-
Cuvée Apogée: All the olives used for Apogée come from a small, limestone-rich grove and only around 500 bottles are produced each year. This oil surprises us with flavours of green banana and a tinge of citrus typical of the Bouteillan variety. The finishing is pleasant and long-lasting with a beautifully long pepperiness in the mouth and very little bitterness.
Cultivar: Bouteillan
Harvest : October 2020
