Wine Region: South-West - France
Grape: Baco, Folle Blanche, Ugni Blanc
Tasting notes: This blend with very little wood influence displays a predominance of fruity aromas, along with a variety of other flavours, including prunes, candied orange zest and quince, to name but a few. A straightforward Armagnac that is highly strung but nevertheless smooth and enveloping. You can drink this Armagnac as an aperitif, with or without ice and also use it for cocktails.
About the winery:
Cooking and Armagnac, two passions that have become deeply rooted values within the Darroze family. The adventure began in the 1960s, when Jean Darroze brought to the top the family restaurant located in Villeneuve de Marsan, in the heart of Bas Armagnac. His son, Francis, is in charge of the wine and Armagnacs list.
Through his numerous visits, he supplies an extraordinary collection of Eaux-de-Vie from different terroirs of Bas-Armagnac. In 1974, he decided to build his own cellar dedicated to ageing and started to sell these precious Armagnacs.
In almost 40 years, the Darroze collection has grown to reach today more than 250 different Armagnacs, coming from 30 properties in more than 50 vintages.
Today, it is his son Marc, a trained oenologist, who continues to carefully select and monitor the ageing of Armagnacs. Its selections feed two ranges with different and complementary profiles.
The Darroze are today considered by all spirits lovers as a qualitative benchmark in Armagnac.
