Chantal Lescure, Pommard "Les Vignot", Burgundy, 75cl, 2011
is on back order
100% Pinot Noir
Les Vignots displays a dark garnet core with a touch of light garnet on the rim. Intense aromatics of wildflowers and crushed black stones give way to deep red and black plum and red cherry mingled with earth-driven aromas of wet forest, dried black mushrooms, a touch of leather, crushed limestone and wet clay. The dense, concentrated wine boasts firm tannins, classic to Pommard, wrapped in fruit reminiscent of the nose along with a touch of pomegranate, a touch of leather and intense earth and rocky minerality on the mid-palate that reveals a touch of spice, and a long, finish dominated by crushed black rocks
Established in 1975 by Chantal Lescure and her husband, Xavier Machard de Gramont, Domaine Chantal Lescure is a family estate, currently owned by their children : Aymeric et Thibault Machard de Gramont. The Domaine Chantal Lescure owns 18 hectares of vineyard, from Chambolle-Musigny on the Côte de Nuits to Volnay, on the Côte de Beaune. They have now also achieved certified organic status. The domaine’s working motto is: “Great wines require great vines.” The approach in the vineyard is of utmost importance as regards the quality of the grapes. All year long, great care is taken to ensure the grapes are perfectly healthy and ripe come harvest time. The cultivation methods respect the soil, the plant and the environment — and are part of the team’s broader philosophy on soil health and plant-soil balance. The winemaking techniques, which use gentle and natural methods without additives, preserve the integrity of the grapes. The goal is to obtain wines which truly reflect the specificities of each terroir.
